About Shani
Shani Markus joined Brown & Riding in 2022. She is a Principal, Senior Vice President, and Casualty Broker, who has created meaningful and lasting relationships with partners based on mutual trust, integrity, and grit. Shani has built the majority of her business being on referrals, many of which have lasted over 15 years. She began working in the insurance industry in 2002 and has focused exclusively in the wholesale Casualty sector throughout her insurance career. She specializes in construction, products, real estate, and energy.
Shani has earned a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and holds a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation and remains active in the industry. She has previously served on the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) Houston Chapter and the board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston (IIAH) Energy Forum where she later became Chairman. She has also been on the committee for the Houston Marine & Energy Insurance Conference, past Chairman of the Host Committee for the Texas Surplus Lines Association (TSLA), as well as other committees.
