About Courtney
Courtney Murphree is Co-Leader of Brown & Riding’s Transportation Practice where she focuses on advancing strategic initiatives, nurturing talent within the practice, and strengthening the group’s ability to provide customized solutions to clients across the country. She has a deep understanding of the commercial auto and logistics markets and has developed strong relationships with carriers and retail partners. She is focused on creating solutions for complex risks in both primary and excess transportation.
Courtney began her insurance career in 2012 by joining Brown & Riding. She spent two years on the underwriting side before making the change to brokerage where she first focused on Oil & Gas before pivoting to Transportation. She has grown her career at Brown & Riding and is passionate about leading a team that brings insight, agility, and a strategic approach to every placement. Whether navigating tough market conditions or helping clients grow, she is driven by the same mindset that started her career: stay curious, stay committed, and keep learning.
In 2020, Courtney was named a Midwest Ascending Star by Markel’s management team and underwriters, a recognition given to only 11 young leaders in the contract binding and brokerage community. She was further recognized in 2020 by Insurance Business America as one of the industry’s Rising Stars. She remains dedicated to educational growth and is currently pursuing her Transportation Risk Specialist (TRS) designation from the Motor Carrier Insurance Education Foundation. Committed to her helping her community, Courtney serves on the advisory board for Easterseals Midwest and is also on the board of the IICF Heartland Chapter.
