About Courtney
Courtney Murphree is a Transportation Broker with a specialty focus in primary and excess Transportation. She began her insurance career as an Underwriting Assistant with Brown & Riding in 2012. After two years, she realized she was better suited for brokerage and made the switch. She became a Production Assistant in 2014 and was promoted to Production Associate in 2015. In 2017, she became an Associate Broker, and in 2019 she became a Broker and Assistant Vice President. In 2023, Courtney was further promoted to Senior Vice President.
When she began in brokerage, Murphree started in Oil & Gas before pivoting to excess Transportation. She has worked in the Transportation sector for five years and hasn’t looked back. She is well regarded by her peers, clients, and carriers. She was recognized as a Midwest Ascending Star in 2020 by Markel’s management team and underwriters, an honor bestowed on only 11 young leaders in the contract binding and brokerage community. She is dedicated to growing as a specialist, currently pursuing her Transportation Risk Specialist (TRS) designation from the Motor Carrier Insurance Education Foundation.
