Brown & Riding is pleased to announce that Harold Nam has been named Chief Financial Officer. Harold joined Brown & Riding in 2008 as a Staff Accountant. Since joining the firm, Harold has ascended to positions of increased responsibility and has played a critical role in leading the Finance and Accounting department during a period of unprecedented growth. He has been instrumental in helping the company grow from a regional specialty broker to becoming the largest fully independent, owner-operated, national wholesale brokerage firm in the United States.
Like many of B&R’s senior leadership, Harold rose from within the ranks of Brown & Riding, rather than being hired externally. During his tenure, he has been a key part of many significant accounting transitions, including two significant M&A transactions, the establishment of better alignment with the day-to-day needs of production staff, and improving the company’s efficiencies as a whole. He also supervised the integration of the company’s Compliance Department with Accounting, which further enhanced the company’s capabilities, stability, and knowledge-sharing.
According to Jeff Rodriguez, President and CEO, “Harold has always demonstrated the ability to adapt to the constantly increasing responsibilities placed upon him as the company expanded. His positive attitude and effective leadership style have been embraced by everyone in the Accounting Department and throughout the organization. Our retiring CFO, Steve Kayahara, who is joining the Brown & Riding Board of Directors, put it best: ‘Harold has been ready for this role for quite some time,’ and I completely agree.”
